What's it mean?
FOUR SENTENCES OF SUMMARY: Summarize the important aspects of the chapter or assigned reading in at least four sentences.
THREE FAVORITE QUOTES OR IMPORTANT AND POWERFUL SENTENCES: Write them out with the page numbers. If you like a huge passage, use ellipses (...) to shorten it to the points you find MOST important. Be prepared to explain why you picked them and why they matter.
TWO THOUGHTFUL QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION: Develop two questions that require higher order thinking skills from the person answering them. Try to come up with questions that get at what you think are the big ideas of the piece.
ONE CONNECTION: What did the chapter make you think about? What did you read that made you think of something in your life or something in another class or something you’ve seen? What was one thing from the reading that caught your eye or that you found interesting for some reason? Write down one thought you had that demonstrates that you are thinking about how the book relates to you. This one will most likely require more than one sentence.
